What’s Going On

October and November are great months for stargazing. Kielder Water and Forest Park and Northumberland National Park have been jointly awarded Gold Tier Dark Sky Park status. This new zone is to be called Northumberland International Dark Sky Park and it is the first of its kind in England, recognising that Northumberland’s countryside is typified by brilliant starry skies, tranquil villages, and unspoilt hills and forests. Many visitors come to The Old School House in order to experience these tranquil and unspoilt surroundings. It’s why we say please bring a torch!

The Redesdale Arms in Rochester is a cosy pub which serves excellent food and real ale.

Our cheeky visiting squirrel. (He shouldn’t be eating the bird’s peanuts; he has his own hazel nut feeder!). Red squirrels can be elusive, but some of our guests this summer reported seeing one outside the cottage every day.
